First, I am changing My Favorite Things Monday to My Obsessions because I like it better and let's get real. I am not super great at sticking to such a strict schedule when it comes to my blogs. Second, this week my the company I want to talk about is not something you can order online. You will actually have to get your sexy booty to Portland to give this establishment your patronage. Let's talk about Finger Bang, and no to you dirty minded babes out there, not the finger banging you are thinking of. I mean Finger Bang as in the female owned nail parlor in Portland, OR. Glynis Olson is the master mind behind this super dope business that gives getting a mani/pedi a unique vibe.
First of all, they are open until midnight which I find to be so amazing. The locations (there are two now!) look more like a tattoo parlor than your typical nail salon. You can still get any traditional treatment you could at any other nail spa, but this company can Picasso the shit out of your finger nails while you surround yourself with an atmosphere filled with artwork, interesting entertainment and even some adult beverages.
On their Instagram, you can find some of the most unique and original teeny tiny artwork whether it is an abstract print, a Nightmare Before Christmas theme or a Old English font spelling out how you really feel about things. You want Cardi B, Chanel or Cruella D. Vile? Done.
You should all know by now how I feel about using the right ingredients in your products. Well, the owners of Finger Bang and I share this belief. All the soaps, scrubs and lotions that they use are from The Dragontree Apothecary (a really dope company now that I have learned about them. Thanks Finger Bang!) so this means that these items are natural, vegan, ethically sourced and produced responsibly. Plus the parlor is constantly looking for ways to lessen their impact on the environment.
Another one of the things I really admired about this
establishment you can see, literally, by the writing on the wall or door in this case. On the door it says, "If you are racist, homophobic, sexist or an asshole, do not come in!" There is something for everyone in this nail parlor and because of the interesting ambiance more patrons are attracted to the joint including dudes!
Hey Glynis! You should totally open up one of of these parlors in Baltimore! Franchise?
Next time I am in Portland, my husband and I are definitely going to hit up Finger Bang and get a couples mani/pedi!
PS. I get some really dope inspiration from their IG photos on ring combinations too! Their clients have some great taste! Follow them on IG @fingerbangportland
